The Book of Leviathan

PETER BLEGVAD

Christmas Book of the Year.
Financial Times

SYNOPSIS
PETER BLEGVAD’s cult comic strip LEVIATHAN ran for seven years in The Independent on Sunday review. It was memorably described by Simpsons creator Matt Groening as “one of the greatest, weirdest things I’ve ever stared at”. Quirky and referential, dark and droll, by turn, Blegvad’s cartoons are indeed unlike anything else in print. THE BOOK OF LEVIATHAN assembles the cream of Levi and Cat's adventures in a 160pp hardback – startlingly produced, with flat-bound, mirrored cover boards and full colour printing throughout. It is an object to treasure, and a snip at £12.99
AUTHOR NOTES

PETER BLEGVAD is a polymath – a writer, cartooonist, and, most often a musician. He is a member of the recently re-formed Slapp Happy (“the Douanier Rousseau of rock’n’roll”), and has played with Faust, The Golden Palominos, and other bands. Born in New York, he lives, like Leviathan, in Shepherds Bush.

INTERESTING FACT Slapp Happy's first ever record was called ‘Sort Of’. Sort Of Books (who won the Nibbies Newcomer of the Year Award for the bestselling Driving Over Lemons) shamelessly stole the title.
KEY POINTS

A lavish production and attention to detail – gold edging on pages.

A work of genius. See the strips come alive online at www.leviathan.co.uk
